PREVIEW:
MUSIC FOR PAINTERS Volume 1
SVR 3100-1 | Release in 06/2009
We are very excited to announce the first Volume of this unique series of Music: the initial idea was to create the type of music one loves to hear while painting, or during a creative discussion with good friends, but just as well to provide the right ambience suited to relaxation and contemplation.
Nonetheless, the featured musicians as well as the compositional concepts may be discovered in their reflection of a specific featured painter as well: the relationship between the movement of line, colour and form in paintings and their respective counterparts in music has been an inspiring topic for a long time! Some famous painters like Paul Klee have been musicians themselves, just like Miles Davis or Joni Mitchel serve as examples for painting musicians – the obvious crossover of creative impulses will never cease, firing up the pleasure to search for fresh ways of viewing and listening.
A free and open approach along almost “visual” compositional avenues give room to Michael “Patches” Stewart on tp, Steve Tavaglione on soprano sax, Kai Eckhardt on bass as well as Dave Weckl on drums, as well as a few surprise guests ... so, sit back, enjoy, and don’t be too surprised in case you might feel like painting ...
